Gateway Jeopardy Finals are Set!
Which school team will Ken Jennings be fearing?
May 12, 2005
By Edwing Medina, Deputy Director, Gateway Institute
After a grueling month of quarter-final rounds held at several locations throughout the city, the highest scoring Gateway school and program teams are now ready to challenge each other for the crown of 2004-2005 Gateway Jeopardy! Champ.
The inter-school contests held throughout April and early May were exciting to say the least. School teams composed of students from almost every grade at their Gateway site proved the value of teamwork as they culled their collective strengths in the core academic subjects as well as general knowledge and trivia. The host school met its match on several occasions as the visiting school moved on to the Finals with the win. Engaged students challenged the Jeopardy host and questions on the exactitude of the responses, and many thrilling debates ensued about the fit of a response to the given category. On more than one occasion, you could hear: "Was it in the form of a question?" Well, that's all in the past now.
The only question that will matter is who will be left standing after the assuredly-heated Jeopardy! Finals, taking place on Saturday, May 21st from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the New York City College of Technology's Voorhees Hall Amphitheater (186 Jay Street, Brooklyn, NY).
